Terms of use

WicksList is operated by Chad Dawson in Lexington, Kentucky. These terms are the rules of the site. They are plain-language product terms, not a substitute for advice from your own lawyer.

What the site is for

WicksList is an online classifieds board for tangible items: things you can pick up, ship, or hand to another person. A listing is an invitation to buy that item at the price shown. It is not an offer of work, a rental, a job posting, or a personal ad.

Accounts

You need an account, and the email on it has to be verified, before you post, message, report, or file a strike. Phone verification may be added later through Twilio. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend an account that abuses strikes, reports, or messaging.

Prices

Every ad needs a real asking price. Placeholder amounts, repeated or sequential junk prices, and make-offer-only wording are rejected. The listed price is the price. Negotiating around it in messages does not replace it.

How long an ad lasts

Ads expire on a schedule, 30 days from the last confirmation unless that number is changed in the admin rules. The posted date and the last confirmed date are both shown. Renewing is one click and means you are confirming the item is still for sale. A daily job closes ads that were not renewed. Expired ads leave search until they are renewed.

Messages and no-response strikes

Buyers contact sellers through on-site messages. If a verified buyer’s message is still unanswered after the reply window (48 hours unless changed), that buyer can file one no-response strike on that ad. The server checks the thread. A strike does not count if the seller already replied, if the window has not passed, if the buyer is unverified, or if that buyer already struck the ad. When an ad reaches the strike limit from different buyers, it is removed and the seller is notified. The seller can dispute a strike. An admin can dismiss a strike and can restore an ad that was removed by the strike rule.

Your content

You keep ownership of the text and photos you upload. You give WicksList permission to store and display them for the purpose of running the ad. Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to sell, and don’t post anything on the prohibited list.

No marketplace guarantee

WicksList introduces buyers and sellers. It does not take payment, hold items, or guarantee a transaction. Meet in a public place, inspect the item, and use your own judgment. Response rate is calculated from on-site messages and is a signal, not a promise.
